Scenic Drives in and around Balingup
Many scenic drives may be taken from Balingup to explore the pleasures of the Blackwood River Valley and the South West. The length of the drives varies from a short trip to a full day excursion.
Some of the drives may be taken as alternative routes to provide variation from the normal 'highway' driving.
Most of the road surfaces are bitumen but there are also some gravel roads. Some of the roads are narrow and winding with steep hills, but all are suitable for a normal car and do not require a four wheel drive vehicle.

Balingup Lookouts Drive
Begin at the corner of South Western Highway and Brockman Street, Balingup.
Turn eastward into Brockman Street with the Tinderbox on your right, and Real Estate Agency on your left. Drive up the hill crossing over De Lisle Street and up to Elliot Street. Have a look up there at some of the properties and the views they enjoy.
Drive slowly back down the hill again and into town. Cross over the South Western Highway and continue along Brockman Street past the Post Office and Tavern onto the road to Nannup. The road here becomes the Balingup-Nannup Road.
Just past the Old Cheese Factory you will see a sign on the left "Balingup Heights Scenic Lookout". Turn into the drive and go up the hill. This is a very steep hill and the road is narrow, so great care should be taken. Follow the hand painted signs to the lookout. From here you can look out over the Balingup Brook, orchards, Birdwood Park Fruit Winery and look back at the township of Balingup.
After returning down to the Balingup-Nannup Road take a right hand turn back into Balingup or alternatively turn left to travel to Nannup.
