Balingup - Boyup Brook - Bridgetown - Balingup
Scenic Drive
The drive from Balingup to Boyup Brook, then to Bridgetown and
return to Balingup is a 107km round trip.
Begin at the corner of South Western Highway and Brockman Street,
Balingup
and travel south along the South Western Highway.
You will pass pine plantations, farmland and some native forest.
10 km from Balingup on the right hand side you will see the road into Greenbushes. Not far past the Greenbushes turnoff you will see a signpost for the Greenbushes-Boyup Brook Road. Turn left into this road.
The road crosses a railway line and the Wattle Ridge winery is on your left. Continue for approx 23km and then turn left at the T-junction onto the Bridgetown-Boyup Brook Road. Boyup Brook is 19km from this point, passing farmland, hills and vines along the way.
Boyup Brook is a service town for the surrounding farmlands and
is well
known
for its Country Music Festivals and the Blackwood Marathon.
The Tourist centre is located in the middle of town and has an
amazing
display of butterflies and beetles. After a wander around,
leave
Boyup Brook and drive to Bridgetown via the
Bridgetown-Boyup Brook
Road.
A stroll down Bridgetown's main street will find many craft shops, cafes, a bakery and a supermarket. The Visitor Centre in Bridgetown houses the world's only Jigsaw gallery. Bridgetown is known for its Blackwood River Chamber Festival, Country Gardens, Blackwood Marathon, Classic power boat race and the Bridgetown Blues Festival.
Return to Balingup by driving north along the South Western Highway.
