Scenic Drive
The drive from Balingup to Busselton (via Cundinup Rd), and return to Balingup via Capel and Donnybrook is a 182km round trip.
Begin by driving north from Balingup along the South Western Highway. After approx 9-10 km turn left into Cundinup Road. Cundinup Road passes through forest and farmland. Stay on this road until you reach the small settlement of Cundinup (approx 20km). Turn right at the T-junction and continue along Cundinup West Road to the Vasse Highway (Route 104). Turn right onto the highway.
The Vasse highway ends at the Busselton Bypass. Turn left onto the bypass and right into Causeway Road for a quick 2km drive to Busselton.
Busselton is a popular beachside holiday destination and has historic buildings, a heritage park and trail, arts and craft galleries and a wooden jetty stretching 2 km out to sea. A visit to the underwater observatory on the jetty is worthwhile.
Leaving Busselton, drive north-east on the Bussell Highway (Route 10). At approx 4 km leave the highway and drive north along Tuart Drive. This takes you through national park and forests then joins the Bussell Highway just before Capel. Capel boasts fine wine, craft items, tearooms and beaches close by.
Leave Capel and drive towards Donnybrook via Goodwood Road. Iron Stone Gully Falls picnic spot is approximately 20 km along Goodwood Road. Goodwood Road is also called the Donnybook-Capel Road and goes through state forest, orchards and cattle country.
The main street of Donnybrook has cafes, gift shops and a supermarket. Local fresh fruit can also be purchased. Donnybrook is known as a fruit and vegetable growing area and in particular for growing apples. The two main events held here are the Apple Festival (usually at Easter) and the Solahart Donnybrook Marathon.
Return to Balingup by driving south along the South Western Highway.
