Donnybrook to Balingup via Lowden and Grimwade
Scenic Drive


The drive to Balingup from Donnybrook via Lowden and Grimwade is a distance of 62km.  The drive will take you through replanted forest and pine plantations and some untouched forest.

Just south of the township of Donnybrook is a Y junction.  The right arm of the Y is the continuation of the South Western Highway going south and the left arm is Donnybrook-Boyup Brook Road.  Turn left into the Boyup Brook Road.

After approx 13 km you will reach the tiny settlement of Lowden.  Turn right here into Lowden Road and continue until you meet a T-junction at Grimwade Road. 
Turn right here again.

After approx 4-5 km, you will come to a crossroads and the site of the old Grimwade township.  Here you will find a picnic area near a dam, and evidence of old house foundations and gardens from this old timber town.  Many of the buildings were relocated to other towns when Grimwade closed, including what is now the Balingup Community Centre.

Grimwade Road rejoins the South Western Highway just north of Balingup.  Turn left at the T-junction to reach Balingup.
