Balingup to Donnybrook via Brookhampton
Scenic Drive

This trip can be taken when returning to Bunbury or Perth or as a round trip from Balingup, and will take you through forests, grazing land and orchards.

The distance of the route between Balingup and Donnybrook via Brookhampton is 32km.

Begin by driving north from Balingup along the South Western Highway to Kirup (approx 13 km).  Kirup was established as a timber town and at its peak had three mills producing the railway sleepers for the Trans-Australian Railway.  The township has a tavern and the famous Kirup pies are sold at the bakery/store.

Turn right opposite the Kirup Tavern into Brookhampton Road.  Brookhampton Road joins Sandhills Road further north.  This is a very scenic drive and you will pass Bedfords private saw mill and the Old Brookhampton Hall.  The road is winding and sometimes busy so care is needed.  Water birds may be found for most of the year along this road.

Continue on until you reach the Donnybrook-Boyup Brook Road.  Turn left and shortly you will come to a junction with the South Western Highway.  This junction is just south of Donnybrook and a right hand turn will take you into Donnybrook.  An old unused railway line can be seen on the left hand side of the highway near the corner of this junction.  Alternatively you may turn left and return to Balingup by driving south.
