Walk Trails in and around Balingup
There are numerous walk trails around Balingup and surrounds. The walks
range from a short stroll to a long
hike and so you may select the walk
trail that suits both the time you have available and your fitness level.
The Bibbulmun Track also runs through the township of Balingup.

All of the trails take you through some picturesque and interesting terrain. The trails are mostly gravel or natural earth surface and require that you stay on the designated paths and follow the markers at all times. It is advisable to wear suitable clothing and footwear and carry sufficient water.
Balingup Town walks
Town meander: A self guided walk around the town. See the old picture theatre and shops in Forest Street. Walk through the Village Green. Cross the railway line and walk out past the Post Office and Tavern along Brockman Street to Birdwood Park Fruit Winery. Walk across the Balingup Brook via the footbridge to the Old Cheese Factory and then walk back along the Nannup-Balingup Road into town. See the War Memorial and Peace Pergola on South Western Highway, and visit the shops on your way back.
Jayes Road / Bibbulmun Track walk - approx 1 hour: See the Balingup Brook, old homes, Pine trees, London Plane trees, Weeping Willow trees etc.
Jayes Road / Grimwade Road & Bibbulmun Track walk - approx 3 hours: Lookout, Balingup Brook, rolling countryside.
Golden Valley Tree Park walks
Pear walk - 30 mins return: Climb to Pear Lookout via Yungerup Spring.
Oak Grove walk - 45 mins return: Oak Grove and Maples.
Wattle walk - 30 mins return: Best in spring when the wattles are in bloom.
Tall gums short walk - 10 mins return: Blackwood, Sheoak, Gums and
rainforest trees.
Hill view cairn walk - 45 mins return: Sandalwood trees and lookout.
Sequia short walk - 10 mins return: Stroll to the duck pond, see Sequioa Redwood, Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar along with Oaks and Elms.
Racecourse walks
Racecourse Flora Reserve is situated about 2.5 kms northwest of Balingup between the towns of Mullalyup and Balingup. Wildflowers can be seen throughout most of the year but during Spring the reserve has an abundance of wildflowers. Part of a 108ha reserve includes the site of the old racetrack and gymkhana and 4 walk tracks have been marked. Based on a relaxed pace the the walks range from a 20 mins stroll to 1.5hours.
Greenbushes walks
Town Heritable Amble: Self guided walk around the town. See the Old Courthouse, Goal and Police Quarters, St Barnabas Anglican Church, Old Road Board Building, timber cottages and the Discovery Centre.
New Zealand Gully walk - 3 hours: Dumpling Forest, lakes, bridge made of old sleepers, old Railway Station and Whittakers Timber mill.
Mining Heritage walk - 1 hour: Features jarrah forest, old mining tunnel, hand dug shafts and trenches. Mine Lookout for a great view of the Cornwell Pit.
Greenbushes Loop - 5 hours: Natural swimming pool, jarrah forest, dams, old mine, walk a part of the Bibbulmun Track, valley lookout.
Other bush walks
Hester Forest Walks: Four walks of various lengths along bush trails. Wildflowers, birds, wandoo and banksias, mature jarrah and farmlands.
Fallers Brand Trail (Bridgetown Jarrah Park) - 1 hour: Spring wildflowers, jarrah, marri, karri and blackbutt trees. One main trail with two smaller side tracks. Picnic area, toilets, information panels available in the park.
Bibbulmun Track walks
The track is well marked by yellow reflective triangles depicting the Waugal or rainbow serpent. You may plan a return walk while in Balingup or you may walk a one way stretch of the track.
There are six or seven one-way walks which range from 6 km to 21 km and three return walks ranging from 12 to 24 km. The walks feature rolling hills, farmlands, forests and creeks. More on the Bibbulmun Track
